The ChordSounder is a free online tool that lets the user instantly play any of over 40,000 different possible chords.

There is a choice of 70 different kinds of chords- from simple major and minors to rare ones like Major 7(#5, #11) and 13 (#11).

The default root note of the chord is the chosen root, but the bass note section on the bottom allows you to choose any bass note you'd like, or use the 'No Bass' button to hear just the higher register.

Ideal for both the beginning student and advanced musicians, the ChordSounder has a multitude of applications, from songwriting assistance to ear training to musical experimentation and beyond.

The chords have a piano strike and use a synth pad to sustain each selection for 10 seconds.

This final version is the result of two and a half years of research, coding, and trial and error.

It took a while to get the design as simple and intuitive as possible. I also had to do a lot of extra coding so it works on all the major browsers and devices.

In order to hear the bass, using headphones is better than using your device's speakers.
